A small collection vintage dolls I found at the Vanue market in Paris. Made between 1930 to 1950s.
A little Frenchman on wooden stilts wearing a berat, lambswool fur jacket and carrying a wooden bottle around his neck. A Provincial farmer carrying a staff to round up his sheep. Arms and legs moveable and he seems to be made from a very light papery celluloid material,not plastic. He stands a tiny 20cm. tall
Apparently the shepherds of the Landes region of southern France used to watch their flocks while standing on stilts to extend their field of vision, while townspeople often used them to traverse the soggy ground in their everyday activities.
” MAGUY” Lorraine Poupees Folkloriques. Lorraine is very pretty with blonde hair, under a lace bonnet. She is wearing a lace apron over a mauve dress, edged in gold braid, petticoat underneath . Arms and legs moveable and she seems to be made from plastic.

A very pretty doll with jet her black hair, under a purple cotton bonnet, wearing a white apron over a purple satin dress edged with floral ribbon.The dress is lined. Arms and legs moveable and her eyes have eyelashes and they open and shut. She seems to be made from plastic. She stands a tiny 14cm.approx tall
